DESCRIPTION

Contucci is an historic Montepulciano family winery with wine making roots that can be traced back to the year 1008. Today the 41st generation of Contucci make wine, the same way their ancestors once did. The current Contucci winery  was built in the early 1500s and we were one of the few “founding fathers” of the formal region in 1773. The family home was built on top of the winery  (architected by Antonio Sangallo and then painted by Andrea Pozzo), which itself was built on what was the medieval wall protecting Montepulciano.
